Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

TRIP TO DELHI

Many devotees of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj left Punjab for employment and other occupation in the Capital city of Delhi. Friends and relatives who came in contact with these persons also became devotees of Sant ji Maharaj. These individuals met each other frequently and discussed about the benevolence of Sant Baba ji. They naturally could not pay their respects as frequently to Sant Baba ji as they could when they were in Punjab. It was only when they came to visit their villages that they could go to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to pay their homage to Sant Baba ji.

The sangat in Delhi however, assembled on Sundays and could meet each other. The sangat once decided to request Sant ji Maharaj to visit Delhi and bless them. A group of five Sikhs were selected to represent the entire sangat of Delhi and to go to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan and make an appeal to Sant Baba ji to visit Delhi. The group was to request Sant Baba ji for permission to start an AKHAND PATH during his tour.

The five Sikhs came to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan in the year 1952. These included Jathedar Nirmal Singh of Haloowal, Sardar Joginder Singh of village Aur, Sardar Milkha Singh of Village Kitna, Sardar Mohan Singh of village Haloowal and Sardar Hazara Singh.

All of them paid their homage to Sant Baba ji and then a request was made, “Maharaj ji!

Please bless the city of Delhi. The sangat of Delhi humbly requests you for your kind DARSHAN. Please gratify them and fulfill their desire.”

Sant Baba ji did not reply. After two days the five Sikhs collectively repeated their appeal. At that time Sant Baba ji said, “Don’t make a request. Please let me know your orders.”

Sant Baba ji was following the discipline started by the tenth Master Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. Guru Sahib had followed the instructions of five Sikhs when he was ordered to vacate the GARHI at CHAMKAUR SAHIB. The order of the five Sikhs was the order of the Almighty.

At the Kutiya, one of the five Sikhs said, “Maharaj ji! The sangat of Delhi remembers you a lot. Please bless them with your kind presence in Delhi. Akhand Path Sahib has to be started for which we seek your permission. You are requested to be present there during the course of Sri Akhand Path Sahib.

Sant Baba ji replied, “I will obey your orders.”

The request was accepted and the five Sikhs fell on the feet of Sant Baba ji and thanked him for his generosity.

Nambardar Didar Singh was asked to join and Sant Baba ji prepared to leave for Delhi by train with the sangat of Delhi.
