Some Sweet Sermons of Sant Baba Gian Singh Ji Maharaj

Once a young Sikh visited Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to have DARSHAN of Sant Baba Gian Singh ji Maharaj. He had a trimmed beard. Sant Maharaj ji observed this and asked him, “What is your qualification?”

The Sikh replied, “Maharaj! I am a graduate.”

Sant Maharaj ji asked him, “Then you must have read a lot of books.”

He replied, “Yes, Maharaj! One has to read and learn a lot. I had to go through many books before appearing for my exams.”

Sant Maharaj ji asked him, “Is there any book which mentions about the trimming of beards or cutting of hair?”

He replied, “No, Maharaj! I have not read about this in any book.”

Sant Maharaj ji asked him, “If you have not read about it then why is it that you have trimmed your beard?”

The young Sikh did not have any reply. He felt ashamed of his deed. He had been explained by Sant Maharaj ji in such simple terms the way of living a true life of a Sikh. He fell on the feet of Sant Maharaj ji and said, “Maharaj ji! I have understood. I will not trim my beard from now onwards.”

Sant Maharaj ji was happy and further persuaded him to accept the ambrosial nectar. He and his family were blessed by Sant Maharaj ji and initiated into the Khalsa Army.

Another person once came to pay his homage to Sant Baba Gian Singh ji Maharaj. Though he had a complete beard yet had not accepted baptism.

Sant Maharaj ji asked him, “Why haven’t you accepted the ambrosial nectar and why are you without a Guru?”

He replied, “Maharaj ji! I sometimes have the habit of eating non vegetarian food and therefore I have not accepted baptism.”

He was so impressed with these words of Sant Maharaj ji that he accepted the ambrosial nectar of the two edged sword on the next SANGRAND. Such is the effect of the words of the messengers of the Almighty. Whatever they say has a deep meaning and their words are never proven wrong.
