Braham Giani Sant Baba Gian Singh ji Maharaj

Braham Giani 108 Sant Baba Gian Singh ji Maharaj was born in the year 1912 (Samvat 1969), in village Bambeli, Tehsil Mahilpur, District Hoshiarpur. Bhai Harnam Singh, father and Sardarni Prem Kaur, mother were the fortunate parents of this respected soul. The parents of Sant Baba Gian Singh ji were dedicated followers of Sikhism.

At the young age of sixteen years, he renounced his home, parents and his entire friends and relatives and came to the Johalan Kutiya. While at the Kutiya he performed all kinds of work. Washing the animals in the corral, cleaning the stables and providing timely fodder was all part of his duty. He learnt to cook simple vegetarian food for his Gurudev. Along with these duties, the religious and divine study cleaned his inner self and he became a virtuous saint. The selfless service for his Gurudev brought modesty in him. Though he reached the heights of spirituality yet he continued serving his Gurudev.

Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj recognized his state and passed all his austerities to him and announced that he would become a popular kingly saint.

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji was installed as the Chief of the Kutiya when the soul of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj merged with the Eternal on 9th November 1971 (20th Katak 2028 Bikrami Samvat).

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji after taking on the reins of the Kutiya administration in his hands traveled in India and abroad and spread the message of truth. He preached the teachings enshrined in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and encouraged his devotees to protect themselves from evil by accepting the ambrosial nectar of the two edged sword. He spent thirty years in guiding people to follow the right path and improve their spiritual standard of living.

He was involved in many social works as well. He was instrumental in constructing Gurdwaras at different places in India and abroad for the local sangat to become disciplined in the Sikh way of life. He established Gurdwaras under the name of ‘Amrit Parchar Dharmik Diwan’ in England and Punjab. In Delhi a Jatha was created under the same banner. The management, upkeep and service in these ‘Gurdwara Amrit Parchar Dharmik Diwan’ Gurdwaras and also by the Jatha in Delhi is being performed as per the orders of the Holy Saints of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. A Management Committee comprising of five members from the local sangat is constituted by the Holy Saints to look after the day to day administration at all places.

Braham Giani Sriman 108 Sant Baba Gian Singh ji Maharaj’s soul left his human body to remain forever at the feet of the Almighty on 6th November 2001 (21 Katak Samvat 2058). A spiritual power vanished from this world. As per his wishes, mortal remains kept in a wooden box were immersed in the waters of river Sutlej at Gurdwara Bhabhor Sahib, in District Ropar.
