THE SANGAT OF VILLAGE KANDHALA JATTAN BLESSED

Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj’s greatness spread far and wide. The people of village KANDHALA JATTAN also became his devotees. Once some important agriculturists of the village including Bhai Rann Singh, Bhai Labh Singh and Nambardar Amar Singh collected together and came to Sant Baba ji and paid their obeisance. They requested Sant Baba ji to grace their village with his Holy feet.

Sant Baba ji observed the deep love in the request and accepted their invitation.

Everyone started preparations to welcome Sant Baba ji at his residence. But sadhus know what the need of the masses really is and script their own story. They have peculiar moments of enjoyment. They laugh in the Lord’s Love, they weep in the Lord’s Love and they remain silent in the Lord’s Love.

They do not care for anything else,
except their True Husband Lord. (Page 473)

The Holy saints are only filled with Lord’s Love and care less for worldly comforts. Also they have other duties to perform and normal human beings cannot understand these duties.

Sant Baba ji did not go to anyone’s residence but made his abode in a thicket. This thicket had been named as the thicket of Baba Bihari.

Everyone feared to come close to this Baba Bihari thicket, because it was haunted. No one touched the wood of this thicket.

Baba Bihari though was well known as a sadhu yet his deeds did not match the deeds of godly men. He used to ask the married people forcibly to worship him. This was the reason that after his death he could not get salvation and his soul remained wandering in the thicket.

Sant Baba ji made his seat in the thicket least concerned about the wandering soul. He asked his devotees to cut down the dry branches of trees and use them to light a fire for cooking langar. The devotees complied with his instructions.

At around 12 o’ clock at night, the wandering soul of Baba Bihari came to Sant Baba ji and said to him, “Why have you captured my abode? You should leave this place immediately.”

Sant Baba ji sitting on a wooden bed asked, “Who are you?”

“I am Baba Bihari,” the reply came.

Sant Baba ji said to him, “You call yourself ‘BABA’. During your life you called yourself a sadhu. Have you ever performed deeds suitable to your title? If you had performed good works, your soul would not have wandered like this. Your bad deeds have been instrumental in your not attaining salvation.”

Baba Bihari became humble on hearing the sweet words of Sant Baba ji and requested, “Maharaj ji! This is your abode. You may stay here for as long as you desire. But please bless me and grant me salvation.”

The kind Sant Baba ji saw him with his divine eyes. Baba Bihari was blessed and he led a peaceful and calm life in the next world.

Bhai Labh Singh was present there at that time. He could not observe anything with his eyes but heard the exchange of dialogue. In the morning he came to Sant Baba ji and asked, “Maharaj ji! I heard voices at night. With whom were you talking?”

Sant ji Maharaj admonished him for raising such a question. Then after some time Baba ji informed, “It was the wandering soul of Baba Bihari. His spirit came to us. I prayed to the Almighty for his salvation and my prayer has been accepted. His spirit will not trouble anyone now.”

Now days a school is running in the place where the thicket used to be. People have constructed their residences in the area without any fear. No one is now afraid of the wandering spirit. A truly Holy saint had cleared the environment from the fold of spirits. It is the duty of such Holy saints to consider the welfare of others.

Beautiful is that place, where the Holy people dwell.
