Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

THE PRECEPTOR AND THE DISCIPLE ARE ONE

It is indeed invaluable to be a Gursikh. But someone is required to show the path to a Manmukh to become a Gursikh. A preceptor who is totally immersed in the Name of the Lord, is perfect in discipline and has the Grace of the Lord’s eyes on him, can easily induce Gursikhi in any individual. The Holy Name of the Lord can be explained to others in a proper manner only if it is fixed firmly in the mind of the preceptor. Such preceptors are extraordinary and their qualities are beyond the expression of words.

The preceptor who himself has this competence, prepares his follower with due care so that the follower rises and surpasses him on the way leading towards divinity. The preceptor is happy to see his follower move in the right direction. A stage arises when the preceptor and the disciple become one and no difference remains between the two.

The disciple who is destined to so rise is extraordinary too. Such a one learns to be in full control of his desires. He gradually recognizes Truth and thus both the preceptor and the disciple merge in the Truth and do not remain separate.

Sardar Chanan Singh of village Jaitewali, Sardar Milkha Singh of village Kukar Pind and Giani Bela Singh of village Johal were the followers of Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj of Jiyan. They regularly visited the Jiyan DERA.

When the fragrance of the garden of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was spreading from his abode at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan, these individuals, on separate occasions were instructed by Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj, “You can now have my Darshan at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan.”

These individuals visited Nirmal Kutiya Johalan separately and on different occasions.

The first time when they bowed their heads in reverence, they actually had the Darshan of the great saint Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj of Jiyan.

It was only when they looked up after touching the feet of the Holy saint that they observed Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj sitting in front of them. This miracle happened to three individuals at different times.

There is no doubt that Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj as the disciple had realized the Truth and had merged in Truth with the teachings of Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj, his preceptor.

The Tenth Master describes this situation in the following verse of Bachittar Natak.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਦੁਈ ਏਕ ਹਉ ਬਿਬ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ |

The Lord and His devotees are one, there is no difference between them.
