Once Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj attended the Akhand Path Bhog at Walker Company belonging to Sardar Karam Singh Kirti (MLA, Punjab). Kirti ji honored Sant Baba ji by presenting him with a costly shawl. Giani Beant Singh Bijli was also present there. He wished that Sant Baba ji present the shawl to him.
After some time Bijli ji visited Nirmal Kutiya Johalan on the occasion of the anniversary celebrations of Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj on 6th Poh (around 20th December). He performed Kirtan during his allotted time. After the performance he came and sat near Sant Baba ji.
Bijli ji was trembling on account of severe cold.
Sant Baba ji saw him and asked, “Bijli ji! Why are you trembling? Is it because of the cold weather?”
Bijli ji replied, “Yes, Maharaj! The weather is biting cold and I am feeling it.”
Sant ji Maharaj instructed Sant Baba Gian Singh, “Santa! Get a shawl for Bijli ji. It will save him from the cold.”
Sant Baba Gian Singh ji brought a shawl and gave it to Bijli ji to wrap himself in it. Bijli ji observed that the shawl was the same, which he had seen in the factory of Kirti Sahib. He was speechless. He was besieged with emotions. He thanked Sant ji Maharaj for his generosity and fulfilling his wish. This shawl is kept by Bijli ji at his residence as a mark of respect for the great saint.
