THE HOLY SAINT BLESSES A MUSLIM

The blessings of the Holy saints are present in their teachings. The Holy saints have the power to recognize the devotion in an individual. They attach significant importance to the timing of a particular teaching so that the same is fully understood by the devotee who then follows it to receive further blessings.

Giani Beant Singh Bijli ji was once performing Kirtan with his group members at the Kutiya. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj pointed out to the group, with his stick to stop singing. Bijli ji did not understand the abrupt stoppage. Bijli ji however completed the verse and then stopped singing. He came to Sant Baba ji. The great saint said, “Bijli ji! You perform the Kirtan alone.”

Bijli ji requested, “Maharaj ji! Without the tambourine how will the Kirtan be performed?”

Sant Baba ji said, “The tambourine player smells of being a non baptized Sikh. You perform Kirtan without his help.”

Bijli ji obeyed the orders of Sant Baba ji and received his blessings. Bijli ji loved Sant ji Maharaj and wanted to remain within his fold of blessings. If someone else with less respect for Sant Baba ji would have been there he would have openly resented the suggestion of Sant Baba ji. Bijli ji understood his mistake. Sant ji Maharaj had pointed out the non-baptized member of his group. This was a miracle for him. He continued performing at the Kutiya. The tambourine player left his group. He was a Muslim. Bijli ji felt sad and did not know where he had gone.

After about six months, a young Sikh stopped Bijli ji while he was passing through the bazaar. The young Sikh bowed before Bijli ji.

Bijli ji said, “I have not recognized you.”

The young man laughed heartily and said, “You don’t recognize me. I am your group member. It is because of you and blessings of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj that I have been blessed with this appearance.”

Bijli ji was astonished at the ways adopted by Sant Baba ji to mould the minds of individuals.
