Once the wondering Sadhus from Nirmal Akhara, Hardwar reached the town of Jandu Singha with their Mahant.
It was a tradition of Nirmal Sadhus of the Akhara Rammat, that they preached the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib by wandering through villages. They also visited the abodes of other Nirmal Sadhus on the way.
Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj came to know about the group of Sadhus at Jandu Singha. Under his instructions, the sadhus and their Mahant were respectfully brought to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan, while a musical band played in front of them.
They were welcomed by Sant Baba ji and given full respect. They sat close to Sant Baba ji
The sangat of the Kutiya served these sadhus with all humility. They stayed at the farm known as ‘BAGICHI WALA KHU’. (This well is no more there) All the sadhus visited Nirmal Kutiya Johalan with their chief every morning and also in the evening. During both the times a congregation was held and the sadhus enjoyed being amidst the sangat. The chief however, returned after paying his homage to Sant Baba ji and did not sit during the congregation.
Sant Harbhajan Singh Virakat was sent to ‘BAGICHI WALA KHU’ to serve the sadhus with snacks and milk. Virakat ji said to the chief Mahant, “Mahapursho! The sangat comes to the Kutiya for DARSHAN of the sadhus who have come from Hardwar. But you are not present there. Please do not deprive the sangat from your DARSHAN.”
Mahant ji replied, “I long for DARSHAN myself, but I cannot bear the glow and glory of Braham Giani Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. I therefore come back here.”
Virakat ji said, “Sant ji Maharaj has never said anything to you.”
Mahant ji replied, “This is the fear. If he asks me any question, I do not want to give a reply that might lower his grace. I want to keep the respect I have for him intact and do not want to make a mistake unknowingly. I do not want to get the treatment meted out to Mahant Gurmukh Singh of DAMUNDA KANDOLA by the Nirmal Panchayat of Hardwar.” (Mahant Gurmukh Singh had disgraced Sant Baba ji and the seniors in Hardwar had removed him from Mahantship.)
On the request of Virakat ji, the Mahant ji agreed to attend the congregation. He went to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. Sant Baba ji made him sit close to him. Mahant ji enjoyed the DIWAN for some time but came back to his temporary abode.
Mahant ji thought, “Sant ji Maharaj has given me so much respect which I do not even deserve. I have been blessed with his DARSHAN. I have become his follower. A follower 345 and his preceptor cannot sit on the same platform. I should now keep the blessings of Sant ji Maharaj in my mind and take leave with my sadhus.”
These sadhus remained there for a week. The great Holy saint Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj saw them off after giving them full honors and gifting them with money and clothes as per availability.
