Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

THE DESTROYER OF SORROW IS THY NAME

Subedar Chanda Singh lived in village Bolina with his family. His fourteen-year-old son became sick. His illness became worse with every passing day. Subedar ji had become fed up from the treatment of Doctors.

Subedar ji came to know about a witch doctor of Dhamia village. He spoke about the witch doctor to his friend Sardar Chanan Singh. Both decided to take the child to Dhamia village.

Next day the family of Subedar ji and Sardar Chanan Singh started for village Dhamia. When they were passing the Kutiya of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj, Sardar Chanan Singh said, “Let us first pay our respects to Sant Mahapursh and request him about the healing of the child’s illness.”

Sardar Chanan Singh was a close follower of Sant Baba ji and was well aware of his kindness.

Everyone entered the Kutiya. Sardar Chanan Singh picked the child and placed him in front of the Darbar Hall.

Sardar Chanan Singh then went to pay his homage to Sant Baba ji and touched his feet. He then stood before Sant Baba ji and requested the Braham Giani, “Maharaj ji! Doctors have not been able to heal the suffering of this child and they have showed their inability to cure him of his illness. Please bless him with good health.”

Sant Baba ji replied, “There are no doctors present here who can cure the child from his illness.”

Sardar Chanan Singh folded his hands and said, “Maharaj! The doctors have undertaken all types of treatment but there is no change. Now we have come to the chief doctor who controls all the medical doctors. Please be kind and bless the child. The family is really passing through a trauma.”

Sant Baba ji said to the family in a lighter mood, “From today the child is ours.”

Subedar Chanda Singh and his family were however serious and gave their consent. They could sense a blessing in the words of Sant Baba ji.

The family left the child there and went back to their home.

Sant Baba ji asked Virakat ji to recite the Path of Sukhmani Sahib while sitting next to the child.

Virakat ji knew the PATH by heart. He recited Gurbani as directed. The child heard the Holy Hymns. The child became conscious when the following verse was recited:

ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਉਧਰਨਹਾਰ || (ਪੰਨਾ ੨੭੯)

One who seeks the Sanctuary of the Saints shall be saved. (Page 279)

He sat up and started reciting ‘SATNAM WAHEGURU!’

The Path of Sukhmani Sahib was completed and the child became all right. There was no sign of any kind of sickness. The Path of Sukhmani Sahib had cured his ailment.

In the evening Sant Baba ji asked the child, “Do you want to go home or stay here with us?”

The child replied, “I want to go home.”

Parsad was given to the child and was sent back to his residence. When the child reached home, the family members were very happy to see him hail and hearty. No one was expecting him. Everyone felt relieved on the illness of the child being cured. The family thanked Sant Baba ji profusely for his generosity and for returning the happiness in the family.
