Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

THANKING THE ALMIGHTY FOR MATERIAL COMFORTS

The smell of the vegetation around a sandal tree is full of the fragrance of sandal. Similarly the devotees of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj were bound to benefit from some of his specific qualities. Once this happened, then the devotee was convinced that the happiness received from material benefits had been showered by Sant Baba ji.

Sardar Karam Singh Kirti, of Jalandhar, was elected as Member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He was a devout follower of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. His entire family came regularly to pay homage to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. They took permission from Sant Baba ji before starting any new venture.

Once G S Bolina, elder son of Sardar Karam Singh Kirti, purchased a personal twin seater aeroplane. He had experience of flying as a pilot. Before the first flight, Mr. Bolina came to Sant Baba ji and requested, “Patshah! I have bought a new aeroplane with your blessings. Please grace the new plane with your Holy feet.”

Sant ji Maharaj smiled and said, “I am not meant for plane travel. Please take Sant Baba Gian Singh ji with you.”

Mr. Bolina obeyed the instructions and respectfully made Sant Baba Gian Singh ji sit in his car. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj suggested that Nambardar Didar Singh and Bhai Hira Singh of Johal village should also be taken along.

Nambardar ji was changing the course of water in his agriculture fields. When he was called he came running to the car with his legs full of wet mud. Bhai Hira Singh also joined without his wearing any sandals. Both sat in the car and the car moved towards the Flying Club at Jalandhar Cantt.

The aeroplane was ready at the club. Friends and relatives of Mr. Bolina had collected there and were waiting for the arrival of Sant Baba ji.

When the car reached the Flying Club Sant Baba Gian Singh ji was accorded a lot of respect. He was made to sit in the spare seat in the cockpit. Mr. Bolina took his pilot seat. The people gathered there raised the slogan of ‘Bole so Nihal! Sat Sri Akal!’

The aeroplane took its first flight. Mr. Bolina directed the plane towards Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. He circled the Kutiya twice. Sant Baba Gian Singh ji saw the aerial view of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. Mr. Bolina was carrying flowers in his plane and the same were showered from the air on the Kutiya.

The plane was then taken back and landed at the Flying Club. Mr. Bolina brought Sant Baba Gian Singh ji and the other two associates back to the Kutiya in his car.

He paid his homage to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj and thanked him for blessing him with the material benefits.

Mr. Bolina occasionally brought his plane to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan and went away after circling it in respect for some time. Mr. Bolina showered petals and flowers from the air during the annual celebrations at the Kutiya.

On seeing the plane nearby Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj hid under the branches of a tree. He used to say, “The plane has come for DARSHAN of the sangat. The Almighty is showering flowers from the sky on the sangat.”

His nephew Gursharan Singh Lily now undertakes this service of showering the petals from the sky on the Kutiya.
