TEACHING TO A SADHU FROM MALWA

During the excursion to village Nangal Farid (Garhi), a sadhu from Malwa joined the trip. Since it was winter season, the sadhu carried a quilt to cover himself during the night and save himself from the cold weather. During the day he tied the quilt into a bundle that he carried on his head.

The sadhu observed that the devotees of Sant Baba ji had just a thin sheet with them. They covered themselves with this sheet and meditated during the day as well as at night. The sadhu felt that if these devotees of Sant Baba ji did not feel cold, then since he was also with them he should behave like one of them. In fact he observed that he could not concentrate on his meditation and thought about his quilt all the time. He decided not to use his quilt and threw it in a pond.

Braham Giani Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj educated him by explaining to him, “Those in real love with the Almighty are not bothered about comforts. The beloveds of the Lord are so much immersed in His remembrance that they do not get affected by extreme cold or hot weather.”

It has been a tradition at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan that the sadhus of the Kutiya lead a very simple life. All the sadhus sleep on the floor and during winter season no one takes a quilt.

within your mind. Slave Nanak is satisfied and satiated by the Blessed Vision of
