Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

SPLENDOR IN OBEYING ORDERS

It was like any other day. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was sitting under the mango tree. Sant Baba Gian Singh ji was attending on him. Sant Baba Harbhajan Singh ‘Virakat’ ji was managing the kitchen. The other sadhus were involved in their respective work.Sant Baba Basant Singh ji was squatting on his feet. He called Sant Baba Gian Singh ji, “Santa!”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji stood in attendance and said, “Yes, Maharaj!”

Sant Baba ji said, “A fast wind is blowing. Do not ignite any fire in the Kutiya.”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji replied, “Satya Vachan Maharaj!”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji came to the kitchen and gave the instructions of Gurudev to Sant Baba ‘Virakat’ ji who said, “The instructions will be obeyed.”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji came back to attend on his Gurudev. Sant Baba ji had already gone into his SAMADHI.

There was actually no wind blowing at the time. It was difficult to understand the orders of the Gurudev. The Holy instructions were however, to be complied with without any question. No one in the Kutiya ignited any fire.

After some time Sant Maharaj ji opened his eyes and called out, “Santa!”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji presented himself before his Gurudev. Sant Baba ji said to him, “An AKHAND PATH has to be started. Make preparations for the same.”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji obeying the orders went to the thatched hut in which the Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib was kept. The sewadar in attendance was given necessary instructions for the start of the continuous recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Sant Baba Gian Singh ji came back to Sant Maharaj ji.

Sant Maharaj ji asked, “Have you made the preparations?”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji replied, “Preparations are under way, Maharaj ji.”

Sant Maharaj ji instructed, “Santa! Do not delay. Recite ANAND SAHIB and after the prayers start the AKHAND PATH.”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji said, “Satya Vachan Maharaj!”

Sant Maharaj ji remained squatting there while Sant Baba Gian Singh ji went inside the thatched hut.

Today Sant Maharaj ji gave the instructions for the start of the recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib after the Sikh prayer, but had earlier also ordered not to ignite any fire. How will the DEGH be prepared? In case the DEGH is not present the ARDAS (prayer) to begin the AKHAND PATH cannot be properly recited.

These questions might have also arisen in the mind of the readers. These questions however, never arose in the minds of Sant Baba Gian Singh ji nor in any of the other sadhus or sewadars. Such was the faith in the words of Sant Maharaj ji that those who attended on him had given up all their reasoning. A true devotee does not question the orders and obeys them without a doubt in his mind.

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji came and sat in the hut near the Holy Book. Everything was ready except the DEGH.

At that moment the son of Sardar Didar Singh, Sarpanch of village Kukar Pind came to pay homage to Sant ji Maharaj. He brought DEGH prepared at his house as offering. This DEGH was kept in presence of the Holy Book.

Path of Anand Sahib was recited, prayers were offered and as per the instructions of Sant ji Maharaj, the AKHAND PATH was started. DEGH was offered to the Lord and also brought to Sant ji Maharaj. Sant Baba Gian Singh brought the DEGH to Sant ji Maharaj and informed him, “Maharaj ji! AKHAND PATH has been started.”

Sant Baba ji just said, “Very good!”

Sant ji Maharaj was in full glow and had a smiling face. There was no doubt raised by anyone and all those present just obeyed all the instructions of Sant ji Maharaj.

Pure ghee DEGH is always prepared at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. Even the devotees bring pure ghee DEGH as offering. The DEGH is served in abundance to thousands of people who come to the Kutiya to pay their homage.

The sewadar always serves with all humility and with full respect. He keeps his mouth covered with a piece of cloth during the distribution of Parshad and also during his attending on the DEGH.

With the blessings of Sant ji Maharaj, the store of the Kutiya is always full. Nirmal Kutiya can be said to be the real place where the words, ‘BABA ATAL! PAKIAN PAKAYIAN GHAL!” rings true.
