SARDAR SWARAN SINGH BLESSED FOR MINISTERSHIP

Sardar Swaran Singh, of Shreen Shankar, was a devotee of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. He was from the congress party and a well-known politician. When he was chosen by his party to stand for election for the seat of Member of Parliament, he came to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to pay his homage to Sant Baba ji and seek his blessings for success. While bowing in front of Sant Baba ji, he kept a five-rupee note under the mat of Sant Baba ji.

Sant Baba ji observed his action and said to him, “Pick up this money. You are seeking Ministership by offering these five rupees.”

Sant Baba ji never accepted money from anyone. In case some unknown person kept the money in front of him, Sant Baba ji politely told the person, “Don’t do this. Please pick up this piece of paper from here.”

Even today, neither at the Kutiya nor when the present head of the Kutiya go out, is any money ever accepted. This discipline is the main force behind the prosperity of the Kutiya.

Sardar Swaran Singh felt abashed for his action and sought forgiveness. He picked up the five-rupee note.

Sant Baba ji said to an attendant, “Sangat be served with milk and snacks.”

At the time of taking leave, Sant Baba ji asked Sant Baba Gian Singh ji, “Santa! Please bring a bowl full of sugar puffs as Parshad and give it to Sardar ji.”

Sant Baba Gian Singh ji brought the sugar puffs in a plate, showed the plate to Sant Baba ji and then offered the Parshad to Sardar Swaran Singh. While doing so Sant Baba Gian Singh ji said, “This is your Ministership. Take it.”

Sardar Swaran Singh with this grace of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan became a minister in the Central Cabinet and remained so during his lifetime.

On the request of Sardar Swaran Singh and orders of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj, Giani Lakshmi Narain Singh (Retd. SSP) was taken by Sardar ji to Delhi for thanking the Lord Almighty for his kindness and showering of material pleasures. Giani ji taken to Delhi by Sardar Karam Singh ji Kirti, MLA, was involved in giving religious discourses at the residence of Sardar ji.
