Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

SANGAT OF DELHI IS BLESSED

The devotees at Delhi were missing Sant ji Maharaj, when he had left for Ajmer. The Holy atmosphere created during the presence of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was reducing its strength. They did not want to remain deprived of the personal DARSHAN of Sant Baba ji who had specially come to bless them from Nirmal Kutiya Johalan.

A telegram was sent to Ajmer. Sadhu Singh ji informed Sant Baba ji about the contents of the telegram and said that the devotees at Delhi were eagerly waiting for DARSHAN.

Sant Baba ji asked, “Who is the addressee of the telegram?”

Sardar ji replied, “Maharaj ji! The telegram is addressed to me but the sangat is anxious for your return to Delhi.”

Sant ji Maharaj said, “Since the telegram is addressed to you, then you should go to Delhi. What have I to do in this?”

Sardar ji said, “Maharaj ji! The sangat in Delhi is remembering you. Please accept their humble request. The sending of the telegram shows how anxious they are for your return.”

Keeping in view the love of the devotees, Sant Baba ji returned back to Delhi along with the sangat.

An AKHAND PATH was started to celebrate the coming back of Sant Baba ji. In the evening a congregation was held where Kirtan and Katha were undertaken.

Many persons joined on the day of the Bhog of Sri AKHAND PATH. Many individuals had come to have DARSHAN of the Holy saint for the first time. They were eager to know more about the graceful saint. The Kirtan of Gurbani touched the hearts of many. The religious discourses highlighted the faith in the Name of the Lord. Many persons became seekers of the Amrit. The initiation ceremony was held and many persons joined the fold of the Army of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib by accepting the ambrosial nectar of the two edged sword.

At the end of the congregation and distribution of the Holy Food, Sant Baba ji came to know that the organizers had collected donations from the sangat to arrange for the congregation. Sant Baba ji called over the leaders and gave them a strict advice; “You have committed a grave mistake by asking for donations. You have breached the discipline of Guru Sahib. When you were arranging the congregation for the Guru then you should have taken the support of the Guru for achieving success in your mission. The Guru waits for such prayers and the work should have completed without any problem. Do not repeat this action of yours again.”

The organizers felt ashamed of their conduct and fell on the feet of Sant Baba ji and sought his forgiveness. They promised not to seek any donations in future.

One of the main ideology of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was the teaching to the sangat that no donation would be asked for or announced for the construction of the Gurdwaras which were to house Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

It may be mentioned here for the information of the readers that during the celebrations of anniversaries or other functions held at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan or during the laying of the foundation stone of Gurdwara buildings anywhere, no donations were ever sought for the construction work to proceed. The later saints of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan have carried this tradition forward and the discipline continues to be enforced by the present chief also.

While in Delhi, Sardar Atma Singh of village Phaamra, lived in Karol Bagh, New Delhi. He wished that Sant Baba ji blessed his residence with his Holy feet. At midnight he prepared Deg Parshad and prayed for Sant Baba ji to turn up and bless him and his family.

The Holy saint caught the signal of the communication. He took the sangat along and reached the house of Sardar Atma Singh during the night.

A knock was made on the door. Sardar Atma Singh opened the door and found Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj standing outside. He was very happy. He welcomed Sant Baba ji and made him sit on a raised platform already prepared for the purpose.

Sant Baba ji said, “Atma Singh! There certainly is love and strength in your prayer. Now lay down a separate sheet for the Raagis to start the Kirtan. Enjoy the singing of the Holy Hymns in your house.”

A Kirtan Jatha recited the Asa-di-Var. It was dawn by the time the entire Asa-di Var was completed. The sangat was then served with tea and snacks.

The wish of Sardar Atma Singh was fulfilled and he was very happy to have served the sangat with his own hands. The sangat had blessed his house and Sant Baba ji’s feet had made it Holy.
