One-day Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was sitting outside the room in the farm of Bhai Bishan Singh. Some followers including the owner were also sitting near by. A person with some miraculous powers came in the sangat. Sant Baba ji recognized this individual with his Divine eyes.
After some time Sant Baba ji pointed towards this person and said to him in an assertive voice, “Don’t dare do it!”
The person replied, “I have already done it.”
Sant Baba ji again said, “I warn you. Don’t do it.”
He replied, “I have done what I wanted to do. Now only a Holy person can withstand my doing.”
Sant Baba ji immediately said, “Forget it! It has not happened.”
The person received a jolt on hearing these words and left the place immediately. He lived near the village Johal. The devotees sitting nearby heard the amazing dialogue. One of them asked Sant Baba ji, “Maharaj ji! We have not been able to understand a word of the discussion you two were having. The visitor was saying that he had done it and you replied that it had not happened. What were you two talking about? Please let us know.”
Sant Baba ji explained, “He was an impersonator and wanted to spoil the buffalo of Bhai Bishan Singh. He tried his best but nothing has happened to the buffalo.”
Around 4.00 o’clock in the evening, everyone was startled to hear the loud bellowing of the buffalo of Bhai ji, in the farm. One of the persons sitting with Sant Baba ji said to him,“ Maharaj ji! The buffalo has never done this before. This is the first time it has bellowed in such a voice.”
Sant Baba ji smilingly said, “The buffalo is conveying through her bellowing that she is ready to be milched.” Addressing Bhai ji he said, “Bhai ji! Go and milch the buffalo.”
Bhai ji went with a bucket to milch his buffalo. That day the buffalo gave quite an amount of milk, which was more than the usual.
A few days passed after this incident, when one night Sant Baba ji was worshipping in the shrubs during the night. He was disturbed by the sound of someone passing nearby. He came out of his SAMADHI and seeing the impersonator immediately recognized him. Sant Baba ji caught hold of him and threw him on the ground. His strong body did not permit the man from moving from his grip. Sant Baba ji kept his knee on the neck of the man.
The impersonator pleaded, “Please leave me.”
Sant Baba ji said, “You are not going to be released. You have to be killed. You harm the buffalo’s of innocent farmers. Now only a Holy person can come to your help.”
The man cried and said that the pain was killing him. He pleaded again for being released.
Sant Baba ji said, “You can be freed only on one condition.”
The man said, “I am ready to agree to all your conditions. Please release me. I am having a lot of pain.”
Sant Baba ji said, “Before sunrise, you will leave the district of Jalandhar and not be seen around here anymore.”
The man replied, “I accept your condition. I will leave this area immediately.”
Sant Baba ji released him and got up. He collected his belongings that had fallen off and left the place.
Next day someone came to Sant Baba ji and informed him, “The impersonator who used to harm the buffalo’s of the farmers was seen at Adampur. He was proceeding towards Hoshiarpur.”
Sant Baba ji just smiled on receiving the news.
Sant Baba ji often said that the work of a Holy saint is to recite the Name of the Lord and immerse himself into the depth of the sacred Gurbani. Holy saints inspire others to follow the right path to attain the Almighty. The Holy men only wish for the wellbeing of others.
