Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

PRAYER OF A CHILD AND HIS MOTHER IN DISTRESS

This incident relates to the year 1947. A Panchayat gathering was going on in the village of Nangal Shama in the month of June. During this gathering Sardar Bhagat Singh son of Sardar Bhagwan Singh of the village killed someone. He was caught by the Police and kept in Central Jail at Jalandhar.

Sardar Bhagat Singh had two small kids and his wife. There was no educated person in the family. The relatives and other wicked persons took away all the money the wife had with her after making false promises that the money would be used for getting Sardar Bhagat Singh released from Police captivity.

Darbara Singh was the elder son of Sardar Bhagat Singh and was studying in the second class in school at that time. An old lady from the Brahamin caste lived in the neighbour. She suggested to Bibi Amar Kaur mother of Darbara Singh to go for the alleviation of their agony to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj.

Bibi Amar Kaur, brought her son Darbara Singh alongwith the old lady to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. They paid their homage to Sant Baba ji. Both Darbara Singh and his mother could not control themselves and started crying.

Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was the knower of all things. Such Holy persons knew what was goint on in the mind of ordinary people.

Sant Baba ji said to the lady, “O Lady! Don’t cry. Your husband will come back to look after the family day after tomorrow.”

Seven condiments were given to the lady and she was asked to hand them over to Sardar Bhagat Singh at the time of meeting him in the Jail the next day.

The lady had full faith in the words of Sant Baba ji and her misery reduced to a large extent.

Next day Bibi Amar Kaur and her son Darbara Singh went to meet Sardar Bhagat Singh in the jail. They had to hand over the seven condiments that Sant Baba ji had blessed them with. Sardar Bhagat Singh met them and before his wife or son could say anything, said “Yesterday, Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan came in my dream and blessed me. Sant Baba ji said to me that there was no case of any sort against me and therefore I should go back to my family.”

The wife narrated her prayers to her husband and the blessings received from Sant Baba ji. Everyone started crying and felt that they were not worthy of such blessings of Sant Baba ji.

In the evening all the convicts and undertrials were collected in the courtyard for the attendance. A senior officer was present to oversee the attendance. The attendance of all the convicts was marked as per the attendance register but the names of Sardar Bhagat Singh and his brother Sardar Milkha Singh (who was also jailed as an undertrial for the crime of murder) was not there in the register. The senior officer asked for their identification. No one came forward to identify them nor their crime. The Jailor could not give any reply to the senior officer as to who these jailed persons were.

The senior Police officer instructed the Jailor that the two be released in the morning. Both of them were released from the jail the first thing in the morning. No record for their crime was available in the Police Station nor in the court.

They both went to thank and seek forgiveness from Sant Baba ji. Sant Baba ji asked them to rub their noses in the dust on the ground while lying down stretched on their stomachs infront of the room for Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Sant Baba ji advised them, “Take a vow that you will never ever join any bad company.”

They sought the ambrosial nectar from Sant Baba ji and received the blessings of Guru Sahib. They mended their ways and followed the teachings of Sant Baba ji. Today the entire family is baptised. Darbara Singh the son of Sardar Bhagat Singh is the Manager of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib, Bidar, Karnataka.
