During his stay at Nangal Farid (Garhi) Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj, went to visit the house of a devotee in the nearby village of GHOREWALA. Bhai Karam Singh of Garhi village thought of bringing Sant Baba ji back to the village on his bullock cart. He started decorating his bullock cart. His father saw this and asked him, “Where are you taking this cart?”

Karam Singh replied, “I want to bring Sant Baba ji back to the village in this cart. I have to go to GHOREWALA village for this purpose.”

His father replied, “There is no need to take the cart to GHOREWALA. Don’t you know that the villagers there are our enemies?”

Karam Singh pleaded for permission from his father but was refused point blank. A heated discussion ensued and tempers rose. In the end, Karam Singh shouted, “If you do not permit me to take the cart to that village, I will commit suicide by hanging myself.”

He picked up a rope and hung it on the wooden girder in the roof of his room. He was about to tie the rope around his neck and commit suicide when Sant Baba ji reached the village riding a horse.

He came direct to Karam Singh’s house. When Karam Singh saw Sant Baba ji he left the rope hanging and came to pay his homage. Sant Baba ji accepted his request and blessed him by sitting in his decorated carriage. The divine eyes of Sant Baba ji blessed him. Sardar Karam Singh’s father also realized the immense faith of his son in Sant Baba ji.

Later the village elders of Garhi and Ghorewala were made to sit together by Sant Baba ji to sort out their problems. Sant Baba ji was instrumental in bringing a truce between the villagers of the two villages.
