HAPPINESS COMES EFFORTLESSLY TO GURMUKHS

Gurmukhs (Those Sikhs who face the Guru) follow the path of truth. It is easy for Gurmukhs to cross this world and enter the next world by just leaning on the truth. The true Sikhs of Satguru gain happiness by giving up their ego. Since they are not selfish, they do not get entangled in greed and emotional attachment.

Sardar Nirmal Singh of village Bolina was sent by his mother to daily visit Nirmal Kutiya Johalan, to pay his homage to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. This started when Nirmal Singh was a student studying in a school. Nirmal Singh felt a lot of solace on the DARSHAN of the Holy saint and he believed that it was only because of the blessings of Sant Baba ji that he was doing well in his studies.

His mother prepared langar daily and sent it to the Kutiya through her son. One can imagine the amount of devotion that the mother had for Sant Baba ji that she specially prepared one daily meal. The mother was giving her son a teaching to stride the path of selfless service as envisaged in Sikh families. She was helping her son to have full faith in the spiritual powers of Sant Baba ji.

Nirmal Singh completed his education securing good marks. He started looking for a job. He applied to many Organizations but there wasn’t a single response.

His mother prayed for him to get a job. She especially sought from Sant Baba ji the boon that the faith of her son be not shaken even if his joining a service got delayed.

Nirmal Singh on the other hand without the knowledge of her mother had been praying in his mind to Sant Baba ji to arrange a job for him. He prayed at the Kutiya when he brought the one time meal.

After quite a time had passed, Nirmal Singh approached Maharaj ji and said, “Maharaj ji! Please bless me with a job.”

Sant Baba ji said, “There is a private school in village Patara. Go and try to get a job there.”

Nirmal Singh applied and got a job at the Patara School immediately. This experience moved Nirmal Singh and he thanked Sant Baba ji profusely. He started teaching in the School. Whenever he now came to visit Nirmal Kutiya Johalan, Sant Baba ji said, “Welcome! Master ji!”

Nirmal Singh, now known as ‘Master ji’, did not miss bringing the daily one time meal to the Kutiya, cooked by his mother.

One day Nirmal Singh received a very important teaching from Sant Baba ji. Sant Baba ji said to him, “Master ji! Teaching is a noble profession. Educating the school children is really a virtue. You should continue performing this sacred work and do not leave it.”

Master ji said, “Satya Vachan, Maharaj!”

Master ji continued bringing the one time meal even after he got married and had his family to look after.

When the students of this school went to other Schools/Institutions for competition they stood first. These students were asked about their mentor and they named Master Nirmal Singh. Master ji was approached by other schools, colleges to join their Institution, but he refused. The instructions received from Sant Baba ji were close to his heart. A substantial rise in salary, perks and other emoluments did not allure him from resigning the present post.

With his inspiration, a musical group of performers from among the students was formed. He trained the students to perform Shabad tunes on the musical instruments. When the group was able to perform to perfection, Master ji brought the group players to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. Sant Baba ji was very happy to see the young students playing the musical instruments. The musical group started playing on anniversaries, Nagar Kirtans and on Hola Mohalla. Sangat also encouraged the young students by offering cash as incentive.

Today these students are placed at high ranks in different fields. Everyone feels that they have risen to such heights because of the blessings of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj.

Master ji continues to bring one time langar to the Kutiya. Storm, rain or extreme summer or winter weather has not deterred him to miss the daily routine.

Even in the cold, the frost and the snow, the GurSikh still goes out to see his Guru. ||27||
All day and night, I gaze upon my Guru; I install the Guru’s Feet in my eyes. ||28||

During the three annual anniversaries at the Kutiya, the decoration work is the duty of Master ji, who is now helped by his sons. The decoration work starts three days prior to the D-day. Master ji after seeking permission from Sant Baba ji also started the routine of bursting crackers one night before the anniversary day celebrations.

With full respect this gentleman is continuing his service as a true Sikh, without expectations of anything in return. He knows that the happiness and prosperity in his family is because of the blessings he continues to receive from Nirmal Kutiya Johalan.
