FAITH OF A GURSIKH

It can be said with full conviction that a Holy saint, who has reached the highest level of spirituality, neither thinks ill nor harms anyone. His work in this world involves in bonding the strayed humans to the Almighty God. In order to achieve this objective, they sometimes teach the individual through love, through preaching, through fear and sometimes by admonishing.

One day two friends of village Basti Hast Khan were discussing about Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. Both were speaking from their heart.

One of them said, “Whenever one feels strongly for the DARSHAN of Sant Baba ji, then one or another way opens for this to really happen.”

The other said, “Is it? But you must have to do the hard work.”

The first said, “It is love that erupts from the heart, which has the pull of a magnet for Sant Baba ji.”

“Love is OK. People have to go to the Gurdwara to worship. God does not come to them,” the second brought his point strongly.

The first explained, “God is present everywhere and manifests in all things including we individuals. It is our bad luck that we are unable to see Him. We should therefore not doubt the capabilities of Holy saints since they are the ones who have recognized and observed this fact. We devotees should not even think about questioning or testing the powers of one in whom we have faith. The divine person knows whether our love for him has a motive behind it or not. We can’t have a give and take relationship with the Holy saint.”

The second rejected the explanation and said, “I do not agree with you. If your love is true, then the correct thing to happen is that your Sant Baba ji should give you DARSHAN and prove me wrong.”

The first friend admonished him and said, “You should not utter such words for the Holy saints. Now there will be no more discussion on this subject.”

Both walked away to their respective homes. The first friend thought on the way, “Why does God create such persons who have so many doubts and who can’t trust anyone?”

After he had taken his food, he came to his room. He was alone in the room. He prayed to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj, “Maharaj ji! During the discussion today, I might have uttered some evil words or my ears might have heard malicious explanation. Please forgive me as we as children make such mistakes. The walls, which we have created in front of us, limit our vision. Please destroy this wall so that we can see you clearly. My friend does not have complete faith. Please bless him so that he also loves you as I do. He is not a bad person, but you can always bless him and grant him the true realization.”

This man did not have any ill will for his friend. Instead he was praying to Sant Baba ji to help his friend see the light.

It so transpired that Sant Baba ji along with Sant Baba Gian Singh ji happened to be passing that way. At that time a lady of the village, a devotee of Sant Baba ji was passing nearby. She was thrilled to see Sant ji Maharaj. She came near and paid her homage.

Sant Baba ji advised her, “Mai! Do not inform anyone in the village about our presence.”

The lady replied, “Maharaj ji! How is this possible? How can I keep my village folk aloof from having your DARSHAN? I will spread the news of your coming and blessing us by announcing loudly about it.”

Sant Baba ji laughed heartily on hearing the reply of the lady.

The old lady did as she had said. Within no time the villagers started coming to the place where Sant Baba ji had made his temporary abode. Both the friends also came to have DARSHAN of Sant Baba ji.

The one, who had prayed for forgiveness, fell at the feet of Sant Baba ji and said, “Maharaj ji! You have blessed this place. Please do bless my residence also with your Holy feet.”

Sant Baba ji said, “The sangat has pulled me to this place with its love.”

Sant Baba ji came to the house of this devotee. People collected and Sant Baba ji advised for performing Kirtan. Kirtan was held and then some preachers spoke about the teachings of the Gurus. The devotee then requested Sant Baba ji for the distribution of langar.

The second friend was observing all this. He could not stop himself from coming closer to Sant Baba ji. He fell on the feet of Sant Baba ji and asked for forgiveness. He realized he had been missing something in his life without the touch of the Holy feet. He was really amazed on the firm faith of his friend. His devotion also came to the fore and he joined as a link in the long chain created by Sant Baba ji.
