There was a huge sand dune to the west of the farm of Shabdian. This dune was known as ‘SADHAN DI VAAT’. The dune was at a lonely place and Sant Baba ji went there during the night for his meditation.
One night he was in his SAMADHI on the dune. He did not come to know about the sunrise.
A farmer of village Johal went to his field in the morning for ploughing. When his bullocks came near the sand dune a snake hissed and the frightened bullocks started running back89 wards. The landlord left the bullocks at a distance and came towards the snake. He found the snake standing ground in front of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj who was sitting on the sand dune in deep meditation in the lotus position.
Whenever a pious recitation of KIRTAN is going on the listeners enjoy it. Their eyes get closed on their own and this increases their capacity to understand the words being uttered. Animals and birds on listening to good music get absorbed in the same. If a person who is enjoying the music is disturbed he gets angry. In a similar manner the snake on seeing the Holy Sant Baba ji in his SAMADHI was enjoying the oneness with the Lord. He had to hiss on being disturbed. He was guarding the area around Sant Baba ji and had started meditating in the pleasant aura around it. The sound of the bullocks however made him alert and he once again attended to his duty as a security guard of Sant Baba ji. He did not want anyone to disturb Sant Baba ji in his SAMADHI.
The farmer observing Sant Baba ji and the snake guarding him thought, “How high is the spiritual stage of Sant Baba ji that a snake stands guard for his protection.” He did not disturb the Holy saint and went away from there.
