Once, Giani Ralla Singh Safri was in attendance during the anniversary celebrations at Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was gracing the occasion with his presence. During the Kirtan Giani Ralla Singh narrated the following notable impression of his to the sangat:
‘Two ascetics, one from village Marula, District Hoshiarpur and the second from village Johal, District Jalandhar were involved in deep penance. When their worship completed, the Almighty appeared before them. The Almighty stood first before the ascetic from Marula and asked him, “Your penance is over. What is it that you wish?”
The ascetic requested, “Please bless me with such a light in the form of a son in the family who would direct others in reciting your Name and lead them to ultimate spiritual happiness.”
The Almighty said, “Your wish is granted.”
After granting this boon, the Almighty came to the ascetic from village Johal and addressed him, “Ask for your wish?”
The second ascetic said, “O Lord! You have already blessed the other ascetic the boon I had wished. Now I only ask that the Mahapurkh who is born in Marula should have his abode in Johal.”
The Almighty ordered, “Your wish will be fulfilled.”
It is for the knowledge of the entire sangat that it was with the orders of the Almighty that Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was born in Marula but settled in Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to bless the people of this area. This is the place where Sant Baba ji guides thousands of people to the fold of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib’s Khalsa Army through initiation with the ambrosial nectar of the two edged sword.’
