A true sadhu is one who catches the hand of his follower and passes it over to the Almighty. Although, Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj was free from all types of worldly activities, yet he was aware of the immense love showered by his followers. Love binds one with the Guru. Love binds one with the Almighty. Sant Baba ji’s love existed for the Almighty Satguru and any adoration of the follower thus got mingled in this love.
When the love of two gradually increases from both sides, a stage reaches when the two souls do not remain separate and become one. Sant Baba ji’s immense love for the Almighty had made him no different from the Lord. Ordinary human beings could understand about this stage only when they themselves attained such a level. Sant Baba ji showed interesting miracles but only a few understood him.
Bhai Ajit Singh of Jagadhri had a lot of love and respect for Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. He did Gurbani Kirtan and followed the teachings of Sant Baba ji.

His frequent visits to the Kutiya reduced when he grew old. He became ill and was struck by a paralytic attack. Bhai Sahib was having a peaceful mind and did not worry. He accepted the will of the Lord happily. The family members also kept him in a positive mood by singing Holy Hymns and reciting the Name of the Lord.
One day he became unconscious lying on the bed. He was unconscious for the world but was fully conscious himself. He experienced an episode. Bhai Sahib was caught by the messengers of death and taken to the court of the Dharamraj (Lord of Death). He observed that Dharamraj was well built and had a wheatish complexion. A big accounts register was lying in front of him. It contained the list of all the deeds of an individual brought to his court. Dharamraj was unable to find the account of Ajit Singh.
Suddenly Bhai ji had the DARSHAN of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj and Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Maharaj, standing there in the court. Bhai ji was very happy and touched the feet of the Holy saints.
Sant Baba ji spoke to Dharamraj, “Bhai Ajit Singh’s account is still incomplete and is not balanced. I have torn the old accounts. He may be called to your court when the record books get completely tallied.”
Dharamraj agreed to the words of Sant Baba ji and released Bhai Ajit Singh. Dharamraj had instructed his messengers not to go where Bhajans and Kirtan of the Almighty were being sung. The following verse from Sri Guru Granth Sahib conveys this message:
Service to the Guru is worship of the Guru. How rare are those who obtain it!

Bhai Sahib became conscious and found himself back on earth. He opened his eyes. He became aware of his surroundings but the episode that had happened in the unconscious state was still fresh. He saw his relatives standing around his bed. He narrated his experience and said, “Sant Baba ji has postponed my appearance before Dharamraj.”
His illness vanished. He and his family members came to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to thank Sant Baba ji for his grace.
The following verse from Gurbani sums up this story:
The Saints entrusted to me the capital, and my mind’s delusion was dispelled. What can the Righteous Judge of Dharma do now? All my accounts have been torn up. ||3|| (Page 614)
