COME STRAIGHT TO THE KUTIYA AND GO BACK STRAIGHT TO YOUR HOME
Whenever one plans to go and pay homage to a Holy saint, then one should concentrate on reaching and achieving the target of DARSHAN of the Holy saint. Our mind should not wander here and there but remain directed towards the target. Our mind needs to be controlled as otherwise it drifts very fast and one can think of many other works to be performed. But it has to be kept in mind that if one goes to pay homage to a Holy saint then in case one has other desires one should not be keen to receive the blessings of the Holy saint.
Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj advised his loved ones, “You should come straight to the Kutiya and go back straight to your homes.”
The reason behind these instructions was that we should be able to enjoy to the maximum, the grace and blessings we were about to receive. Sometimes the relatives at home wait eagerly to listen to the incidents that happened at the Kutiya.
Bhai Bir Singh of village Haloowal came with his family to pay homage to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. Sant Baba ji at the time of taking leave from Bhai Bir Singh said, “Bir Singh! Now go back directly to your residence.”
While going back, his son Gurbachan Singh insisted that the family should see the SHEESH MAHAL at Hoshiarpur. All of them went to see the SHEESH MAHAL. Bhai Bir Singh however, kept on standing and waiting downstairs and did not join the others.
Bhai ji had just one thought in mind that was piercing his heart again and again that his family members did not obey the instructions of Sant Baba ji. Sant Baba ji had instructed to go home directly from the Kutiya.
When the family was coming back after seeing the sheesh mahal, Gurbachan Singh suddenly fell on the ground. As he was falling, his hand accidentally touched a girl standing nearby. The girl thought he was attempting to molest her and she raised a hue and cry. People thought Gurbachan Singh was drunk and the crowd wanted to beat him. When Bir Singh noticed the crowd, he came to see what was happening and found his son on the ground with the public abusing him. Bir Singh pleaded with the crowd, “He is not a drunkard but has become unconscious. Please leave him alone.”
Bhai Bir Singh shook the head of his son and prayed to Sant Baba ji to forgive him and his family for not obeying the instructions. Gurbachan Singh regained consciousness and got up.
Bhai Bir Singh advised his family, “We have just been saved from a grave consequence. When you listen to your mind, God will will bring you down to your knees to teach you a lesson. How can you compare the Kutiya with a SHEESH MAHAL? You should not make this mistake again in the future and learn this message that you have to go back directly to your residence after you have received the blessings of Sant Baba ji.”
The family and especially Gurbachan Singh felt ashamed and lowered their heads. They prayed to Sant Baba ji, “Maharaj ji! You have been kind to save us from being blamed for molestation. We will not repeat such a mistake again and abide by your instructions.”
