Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

BIRDS TAKE THE REFUGE OF SANT BABA JI

One day Sant Baba ji with some of his followers left Nirmal Kutiya Johalan for a walk. When the group had walked for about half an hour, Sant Baba ji stopped suddenly. He sat under the tree in a squatting position. There were many birds on this tree and also on the nearby trees and were chirping merrily.

Suddenly there was a sound of a bullet being fired from a gun. A hunter out for killing birds had fired a round from his double barrel gun. He had aimed at the birds sitting on the trees. The birds on hearing the gunfire came to the refuge of Sant Baba ji. They recognized the Holy saint and were not afraid of his presence. In fact they knew that this Holy saint would protect them from the hunter. Some of the birds were so fearless that they sat on the shoulders of Sant Baba ji.

The devotees who were accompanying Sant Baba ji were amazed to see this incident.

Sant Baba ji was carrying a scarf in his hand. He rotated the scarf and then gave a jerk to his hand. The hunter, a British, had by the time come closer to see the result of his gunshot.

He saw Sant Baba ji squatting on the ground with the birds all around him. The Holy face of Sant Baba ji was glowing and he recognized the image of his Lord in Sant Baba ji. He was astonished to observe this. He felt himself standing before a divine personality. He came forward and bowed before Sant Baba ji.

Sant Baba ji looked at him with his shining Holy eyes. The result was that the heart of the hunter melted and became soft. He saw that the birds he had wanted to kill were in the refuge of this saintly person. They were now not worried of being killed and were playing all around him joyfully.

He took a vow to stop hunting from then on and became a follower of Sant Baba ji. He often came to the Kutiya to have DARSHAN of Sant Baba ji.

After many years, in the independent India, a cow in the corral of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan gave birth to a calf. Looking at the color and features of the calf, Sant Baba ji named him as ‘ANGREZ’.

Whenever Sant ji Maharaj visited the corral, he came close to the calf that had grown as a bull. The bull got excited on seeing Sant Baba ji and started throwing dust with his feet and also shook his head vigorously. He seemed to be very happy to see Sant Baba ji.

He became normal when Sant Baba ji touched him with his hand or even with his stick. It seemed that the bull purposely showed signs of excitement to be rewarded with the grace of touch of Sant Baba ji.

The bull often served in the agricultural fields of the Kutiya.

Sant Baba ji used to say, “He is the Englishman who used to hunt birds with his gun. He is now here in this corral to receive the blessings from the sangat of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.”

When the bull expired, every sadhu in the Kutiya was asked to recite a separate NITNEM for his salvation.
