Nirmal Kutiya Johalan

BHAI KISHAN SINGH IS BLESSED

Bhai Kishan Singh known as ‘Rab ji’ was in service with Doaba Khalsa High School, Jalandhar. He was a devotee of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. Once the family members of Bhai Kishan Singh insisted that for the good of the family, some SEWA was required to be done. They felt that serving food to a Pandit would be the right way of SEWA.

The decision of the family was conveyed to Bhai Kishan Singh who said, “It will indeed be a good thing to serve someone. Instead of a Pandit, I will go to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan and request Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj for providing five Sikhs for the completion of your wish.”

Bhai Kishan Singh ji reached the Kutiya. He had hardly paid his homage to Sant Baba ji when Sant Baba ji said to his beloved disciple Sant Baba Gian Singh ji, “Santa! Rab ji has come. An AKHAND PATH Sahib has to be started at his place tomorrow. Please send five priests with him for performing the PATH.”

Bhai Kishan Singh ji kept quiet and started thinking in his mind, “I had come here to get five Sikhs for serving them food whereas Sant Baba ji has instructed for AKHAND PATH. The mystery in this is known only to Sant Baba ji.”

Bhai ji reached home with the five priests. He informed his family about the instructions of Sant Baba ji for the conduct of an AKHAND PATH in the house from the next day. The AKHAND PATH was duly started by the priests.

Messages were sent to the sangat in the nearby villages that a Bhog of AKHAND PATH would be held at the residence of Rab ji and sangat should reach in large numbers on the particular day.

Bhai Kishan Singh ji made preparations for langar to be served to around twenty five Sikh sangat.

On the day of the Bhog, the sangat started collecting at the Kutiya. There were more than 100 bullock carts that brought the sangat. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj fully dressed up in his Gati and carrying the long sword sat on his horse. A musical band started playing in front of Sant Baba ji and the sangat started in a long procession. The sangat was on carts and some of them were walking along.

The procession seemed to be a large marriage procession. When the procession was passing through Kaki Pind, the chief of the village, sitting on a settee, saw the procession and said, “Rab (God) alone can handle this large marriage procession.”

People who heard these comments started smiling as they knew the procession was going to the residence of Rab ji.

The procession reached the residence of Bhai Kishan Singh ji. The SHLOKAS (Holy Hymns of the Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib) were being read out by the priest. Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj caught hold of the arm of Bhai Kishan Singh ji and made him sit with him. He said, “Rab ji! Sit here and listen carefully to the Gurbani.”

The relatives of Bhai ji were trying to get his attention and calling him inside the house to discuss with him about the serving of langar to such a large gathering. But Bhai ji could not get up and listened to Gurbani as per the instructions of Sant Baba ji.

After the Bhog of Sri AKHAND PATH Ardas was performed and the HUKAMNAMA was read out. Karah Parshad was served thereafter. The sangat was then asked to sit in rows for partaking langar. Sant Baba ji told the sevadaars, “Place a cloth to cover the langar. The langar should be handed over to the sewadaar from inside who should then distribute the same to the sangat in the pangat.”

Countless number of people had their share of the langar. At the end the langar that had been prepared for twenty five Sikhs still remained even after it had been served to such a large gathering.

Bhai Kishan Singh ji was praised by all for his SEWA. But only he and his family members really knew that it was the blessings of Sant Baba ji that had wrought this miracle, and that all the praise was due to him. It was the devotional worship of Bhai Kishan Singh that had evoked such immense love for him from Sant Baba ji.
