The words spoken by Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj were uttered in a matter of fact manner. A few blessed individuals could only interpret the essence of the words.
There were many devotees who always said, “Satya Vachan Maharaj!” to his words even when they could not understand the reason for a particular instruction of Sant ji Maharaj. The meaning of the words spoken by Sant ji Maharaj became clear only later after the event had happened.
Such individuals thanked Sant ji Maharaj forgiving them the strength to follow his instructions. They were simple people but obeyed the orders of Sant ji Maharaj.
Dr. Parduman Singh of village Kukar Pind was a staunch follower of Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. He was the nephew of Vaid Bikram Singh. Vaid Bikram Singh was given the responsibility of the stage secretary during the congregations held at the Kutiya and elsewhere. He performed this duty satisfactorily with the blessings of Sant Baba ji.
Vaid ji had persuaded Dr. Parduman Singh to visit Nirmal Kutiya Johalan and receive the blessings of Sant Baba ji. He came into the fold of Sant Baba ji within no time and became a regular visitor to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan.
One fine day Dr. Parduman Singh came to Nirmal Kutiya Johalan to pay his homage to Sant Baba Basant Singh ji Maharaj. After touching the feet of Sant Baba ji, Dr. Sahib sat on a mat lying nearby.
Sant Baba ji asked him, “Dr. Sahib! Where are you coming from?”
Dr. Sahib replied, “Maharaj ji! I am coming from Phagwara.”
Sant Baba ji asked him to go and accept some milk and snacks.
After being served with the snacks, Dr. Sahib came back to the place where Sant Baba ji was sitting.
Sant Baba ji asked him, “Dr. Sahib! Where are you headed for now?”
Dr. Sahib replied, “Maharaj ji! I will be going direct to my village from here.”
Sant Baba ji called Sant Baba Gian Singh ji and said to him, “Santa! Parshad be given to Dr. Sahib.”
Sant Baba Gian Singh ji brought Parshad of sugar puffs and gave it to Dr. Sahib. Sant Baba ji said to him, “Dr. Sahib! We now take leave of you. You have to go straight to your house.”
Dr. Sahib replied, “Satya Vachan Maharaj!”
He bowed at the feet of Sant Baba ji and happily started for his village. Just when he reached home and stepped inside, there was a big roar and a huge storm struck. The winds blew at high speed. Nothing was visible in the dust raised by the squall. The storm continued for quite some time. There was destruction everywhere. Everything was toppled by it.
When the storm subsided, the real loss was observed. Dr. Sahib remembered the words of Sant Baba ji. He was lucky to have obeyed the instructions of coming home directly from the Kutiya. Dr. Sahib collected his family members and told them, “Today, Sant Baba ji has saved me. If I had not obeyed his instructions, I may not have reached home.”
The family members wanted to know the actual happening and asked him to narrate the entire episode.
Dr. Sahib informed about the event that had occurred at the Kutiya. At the end he advised, “You should all love and respect Sant Baba ji. Keep yourself in the fold of Nirmal Kutiya Johalan. You will receive all the benefits and happiness from here. Sant Baba ji always insists on us to observe our daily NITNEM. Our religion is unique and is simple to follow. You should also undertake some kind of SEWA at the Kutiya. Pray to the Almighty so that Sant Baba ji may give you the commonsense to follow the teachings of the lord.”
